Results show that the laboratory beneficiation exercise improves the kaolin sample to a very high grade with a chemical composition close to that of ideal kaolinite. The major impurity after beneficiation, iron oxide, was further reduced by acid leaching. Results show that the properties of the final product are close to that of ideal kaolin.
Using the gravity concentration–magnetic separation–grinding technology, tantalite is obtained with grade of 9.64 % and recovery of 57.37 %. As well, tailings from magnetic separation of the overflow of classification operation are of well-quality kaolinite with natural white degree of 80.00 %.
The octahedral Al sheet is terminated by AleOH groups, which are H-bonded to the O atoms of the Si sheet of the next kaolinite layer (Bergaya and Lagaly, 2013;Bartolomé, 1997).
It may happen that using the technique of air flush drilling, kaolinite is blown out to the surface from among the bauxite fragments resulting in an artificial "beneficiation" of the samples during drilling. This way the reserve estimate will indicate significantly better-quality bauxite than later on the quality of the run off mine ore.
Kaolin is a rock from which the clay mineral kaolinite is derived. This one has been used for millennia as the principal ingredient in porcelain tableware. Today Imerys kaolins bring critical properties to a host of end applications ranging from paper to paints, fiberglass to cosmetics and pharmaceuticals.

For kaolinite calcination, it is reported that a residence time of 0.5 s and temperatures reaching ~ 950 °C (solid/clay temperature) are the most appropriate conditions to produce material with highest pozzolanicity [ 93 ]. For complete dehydroxylation, lower temperatures may be used at the expense of longer calcination times.

Hematite-bearing iron ores associated with weathered goethite and kaolinite are low in iron and high in alumina and silica contents, requiring specific beneficiation techniques for upgrading quality. In contrast, flaky and lateritic ores show a higher concentration of kaolinite, goethite, gibbsite, and hematite phase minerals [ 18 ].
Kaolinite, the primary component of kaolin, is a white, soft, and non-plastic clay that acts as an important filler in this polymer field. It produces a smooth surface finish, reduces shrinkage and cracking during curing, improves impact strength, and enhances resistance to the effects of weathering and chemical action for polymers [2].

From the characterisation studies, it is revealed that the sample contains huge quantity of goethite which is partially weathered, interlocked with hematite and gangue minerals like gibbsite, kaolinite and quartz at different proportions. Two conceptual flow sheets have considered for the beneficiation of Indian high alumina iron ore fines.
The above problems will be amplified with further increase in the use of low-grade ores. It is, therefore, necessary to understand the mineralogical characteristics of the ores and develop beneficiation technologies for removal of reactive silica and other gangue minerals from the ores.
